It’s been 30 years since and the little A3 continues to be a popular choice for buyers looking for a hatchback with a premium image and interiors. In its latest fourth generation shape, the A3 packs sharp styling, plenty of tech, and a range of engine options. The question is, is it still the upmarket hatchback to buy in 2026?   Audi Q3

  Audi A5

  As its name suggests, the A5 has traditionally occupied the space between the A4 and A6 and been offered in coupe, convertible and five-door coupe Sportback guises. But that changed in 2024, as Audi repositioned it as a BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class competitor, thereby effectively replacing both the A4 Saloon and Avant (estate) and the existing A5 Sportback. Available as a five-door hatchback (although it wears the Saloon name) and as an estate (Avant), the A5 sticks to traditional petrol and diesel power, allowing models like the larger A6 e-tron to focus on offering pure-electric power in the executive car segment.

  Audi Q8

  Since its introduction in 2018, the Audi Q8 has been one of the most desirable luxury SUV coupés on the market, helped in part by its imposing presence and added to by its advanced technology. The Q8 is instantly recognisable, thanks to its bold single-frame grille, coupe-inspired roofline, and signature LED lighting. It adds a sporty, luxurious edge to Audi’s SUV range, appealing to those who desire both comfort and cutting-edge connectivity, with the levels of luxury normally reserved for the likes of the A8 luxury saloon inside a more practical, taller body.

  Audi Q6 e-tron

  When it comes to large, luxurious pure EV crossovers, the Q6 e-tron now sits towards the top of Audi’s electric SUV line-up, positioned between the Q4 e-tron and the larger Q8 e-tron. The Q6 e-tron is based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture that it shares with the Porsche Macan Electric, itself a keen rival despite the two hailing from the same Volkswagen Group stable. As a result, it comes with a choice of battery configurations, as well as the ability to specify either single-motor rear-wheel drive or dual-motor quattro all-wheel drive, which ensures there is a broad performance spectrum to consider.
