It has been a bright start for Ford to 2009 despite the ongoing problems with the new car market, the car manufacturer has explained.
Among the highlights of the first quarter are that the Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus occupy the top two positions in the UK’s top selling car lists.
Meanwhile, Ford’s share of the retail car market grew by 1.2 per cent during March to 15.5 per cent, compared with the figure from the same month last year.
Nigel Sharp, Ford of Britain managing director, said: "Ford’s model range provides value, fuel efficiency and style, which continues to attract customers, even in these difficult times."
He added that Ford currently has "one of the freshest and most exciting car ranges in its history", which is highlighted by both the Fiesta and Focus models.
A road test of the Ford Fiesta last year by Channel Four concluded that the vehicle is "fun to drive" and "cheap to run", while being comfortable and refined.
