Despite being one of the biggest British counties in terms of size, Cumbria in fact one of the least populated areas in the UK. Instead it is an area of rural charm, filled with countryside, mountains (Scafell Pike, the highest point of England is in Cumbria) and the Lake District National Park. With just one motorway passing through, the road network is by no means extensive, but connections from Cumbria's main city Carlisle, where tyre manufacturer Pirelli has two plants, are good. It's biggest industry however, is tourism to the Lake District, which receives over 15 million visitors a year.
