Ineos launched its automotive division in 2022, with this petrochemical company entering into carmaking with its Grenadier. The brainchild of Ineos owner Jim Ratcliffe, the Grenadier aimed to take up the space left by the original Land Rover Defender, albeit with a few modern touches.

Backed by BMW engines and gearboxes, the Grenadier has been designed as an out-and-out workhorse capable of tackling difficult terrain and poor conditions without breaking a sweat. Currently, the Grenadier is the only car offered by Ineos, though you can also get it as a pick-up truck in the Quartermaster specification.

The Ineos Grenadier comes equipped with a range of advanced safety systems such as lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking and intelligent speed assist. The Grenadier is also equipped with a broad number of airbags, too, covering all areas of the cabin. A standard-fit driver awareness system can detect fatigue in the person behind the wheel, too.
How fuel-efficient are the latest Ineos models?

You can expect to get around 20mpg from the petrol-powered Ineos Grenadier, or around 26.9mpg from the diesel version. Petrol-powered Greandiers use a 3.0-litre straight-six unit, while diesel versions use a 3.0-litre turbocharged alternative. Both have automatic gearboxes as standard.
