Volkswagen Polo drivers offered space and engine choice

Volkswagen Polo drivers looking for a supermini that is also no slouch in the space department may want to consider the new Volkswagen Polo.

Greater space is present inside the latest edition to the Polo range, with more room available for both passengers and luggage.

Head, shoulder and leg room have all increased, while 280 litres of luggage space is now available with the rear seats up and 952 litres when they are dropped.

Motorists can also choose between a mix of new engines, with among the options a turbocharged 1.2-litre TSI petrol unit and a 1.6-litre TDI common rail diesel offering.

All of the engines available come with either a five or six-speed manual gearbox as standard, while Volkswagen’s advanced and lightweight seven-speed DSG gearbox can be specified.

Motorists opting to select the Polo BlueMotion model, which is powered by a 1.6-litre diesel engine, can benefit from fuel efficiency of 74 miles to the gallon, while only generating 96g/km of CO2.

A review of the Polo last year by Fifth Gear stated that "it is still one of the classiest superminis".
