Motor manufacturer Volkswagen has unveiled the third in its family of up! concept vehicles.
The company revealed that the space up! blue model takes its inspiration from as far back as the 1950s, modelling its look on the Samba bus.
However, the way in which the vehicle runs in truly futuristic, as it is powered purely by battery yet can still reach 62 mph in 13.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 75 mph.
Volkswagen commented that this is made possible by pioneering technology enabling 12 lithium-ion batteries to create a power source by being linked to a high-temperature fuel cell.
"The high temperature version is far more efficient [than low-temperature]as it converts more of the energy in the hydrogen into electrical energy. Furthermore it is less complex and does not require the same cooling systems," the firm commented.
Volkswagen is a German automaker originally founded in 1937.
