What is a nearly new van?

Nearly new vans are mainly pre-registered vans, less than six months old, and have fewer than 300 miles on the clock. These vans are registered with the DVLA, so they come with an assigned registration number. However, they are owned by the dealer and not a private user, so they aren't technically classified as used vans.

The downside? You cannot select the exact colour, trim, or options you want, as you have to pick a van from the existing stock. The upside? It's cheaper than ordering a new van, and you could even get the van delivered immediately compared to a new van. Plus, the best part — you get that new van feeling!

Things to consider when buying nearly new vans

Warranty

Manufacturer warranty starts from the first date of registration. So, make sure to check this with the dealer to find out how long ago the van was first registered in the dealer's name.

MOT date

As with any new van, the first MOT will be due three years from the van's initial registration date. So, if the van was registered six months ago, you may need to MOT it six months earlier than you would with a brand-new van.

Previous keepers

Since the van is already registered in the dealer's name, you will technically be the second owner. Unlike a new van, which is first registered in your name.
