LDV vans were built in the UK and became a common sight with trades, councils and delivery firms. Models like the Pilot, Convoy and later Maxus are simple, spacious and often cheap to buy used, which is why they’re still in work today.

LDV’s roots run through decades of British light commercial history, with designs that trace back to the Sherpa era. In the used market, the best-known names are the Pilot and Convoy, followed by the later Maxus that arrived in the mid-2000s as a more modern replacement.
Today, most LDV-badged vans you’ll find are older workhorses, often bought as budget business vans, for camper conversions or for local jobs where outright refinement matters less than space and simplicity. The Maxus name later continued under different ownership, which can cause confusion in listings, but “LDV” usually signals the earlier UK-built generation. If you’re shopping LDV, it pays to buy on condition, corrosion checks and evidence of steady maintenance.
