LEVC stands for London Electric Vehicle Company and traces its taxi-building history back more than a century. Its best-known modern model is the TX, a purpose-built London taxi with range-extended electric technology. The VN5 uses the same basic approach in a medium-sized van. An electric motor drives the wheels, while a petrol engine generates power when the battery is low.
Used LEVC vehicles may have covered demanding taxi, delivery or fleet work, so inspect more than the mileage. Check the battery warranty and condition, charging equipment, service record, tyres and brakes. On a TX, test the passenger doors, ramp and accessibility equipment. On a VN5, inspect the load area and confirm the payload suits your work. Check local licensing rules if you plan to use a TX for licensed taxi or private-hire work.
