Hummer’s civilian story began with AM General’s road-going Hummer, developed from the military Humvee and introduced in 1992. General Motors bought the brand rights in 1999, renamed the original model H1 and added the H2 and smaller H3. The original Hummer brand was later retired, so UK used stock is limited and many vehicles were imported.
Before buying, check the import and registration documents, insurance options and parts support. Some examples are left-hand drive, and their width, weight and fuel use need careful thought for UK roads and parking. Inspect the four-wheel-drive system, tyres, suspension and underbody, and verify any modifications. The H3 is smaller than the H2, but neither is compact by UK standards.
