How much does it cost?

New Peugeot e-2008 models start from £35,400 for the entry-level Active trim, rising to about £39,310 for the top-spec GT Premium – which is less than the equivalent models cost a year ago. Prices are broadly competitive for the segment, with generous standard equipment included across the range, but it’s still marginally more expensive than some rivals.

On the used market, recent-shape e-2008s are available from approximately £19,000 on AACars.com, so there are some good savings to be had on earlier models, although they only had a WLTP range of 205 miles, and will travel closer to 150 miles in day-to-day use.

Engine and performance

Overview

The e-2008 range is straightforward: all models feature a 115kW electric motor, powered by a 54kWh battery. This setup offers 156bhp and 260Nm of torque, enabling reasonably brisk acceleration (0-62 mph in 9.1 seconds) and smooth, silent running. The single-speed transmission ensures seamless progress, while the instant torque makes it responsive in both urban and more open environments.

The official WLTP range stands at 251 miles, although real-world figures vary with weather and driving style. Rapid charging at up to 100kW allows a 20–80% top-up in around 30 minutes, making the e-2008 practical for longer journeys as well as daily use.

Front-wheel drive is standard across the line-up, with no all-wheel-drive option. The car’s low centre of gravity and well-tuned chassis make it competent and assured in most conditions.

Out on the road

The e-2008 delivers a refined and quiet driving experience, with a comfortable suspension setup that soaks up most bumps and road imperfections.

The steering is light and precise, making the car easy to manoeuvre in city traffic and in tight parking situations.

Acceleration is immediate thanks to the electric motor’s instant torque, and the regenerative braking system helps recoup energy while offering a reassuring feel in stop-start driving.

Visibility is good thanks to a high seating position and large windows, while standard parking sensors and a reversing camera assist with tight manoeuvres.

There are selectable drive modes, including Eco, Normal, and Sport, with adjustable regenerative braking. You’ll only achieve peak performance in Sport, while the maximum range will require the use of Eco mode, which reduces performance and the operation of systems such as the climate control and heating.

Ride and handling

Peugeot’s engineers have achieved a good balance between comfort and body control, resulting in a composed ride that absorbs rough surfaces effectively. Body roll is well-controlled, and the car feels stable through bends, although it’s less sporty than some of its main rivals – which may well be a preference for some buyers.

It’s refined and comfortable over long distances, too, though at faster speeds you’ll find you need to stop more frequently to recharge.

Interior and features

Interiors

Inside, the e-2008 comes with Peugeot’s distinctive i-Cockpit layout, centred around a compact squared-off steering wheel and a digital instrument display. The dashboard features a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration, DAB radio, and navigation. While the system is visually impressive, some users may find the touch controls less intuitive than physical buttons.

Cabin materials feel upmarket, with soft-touch surfaces and smart design touches, although some harder plastics persist in lower trims. Switchgear is robust and logically arranged.

Passenger space is ample for four adults, with comfortable seats and plenty of headroom up front. The rear bench accommodates two adults or three children, with Isofix mounts on the outer seats for child safety, but it’s not as spacious in the rear as some rivals.

Boot space and practicality

With 434 litres of boot space available and up to 1,467 litres with the rear seats folded, the e-2008 is versatile and has quite good luggage capacity for a small vehicle. The boot opening is wide and the floor low, making it easy to load heavy or bulky items.

Additional storage compartments under the boot floor are handy for storing the charging cables.

In-cabin storage is generous, including large door bins, cupholders, a central armrest cubby, and a sizeable glovebox.

Advanced driver assistance includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function and a 360-degree parking camera.

Each trim is available with a wide choice of exterior colours, including bold options like Vertigo Blue and Elixir Red, allowing every owner to personalise their e-2008 to their own tastes and lifestyle, alongside classic shades such as Nera Black, Cumulus Grey, and Pearl White.

Safety and reliability

The Peugeot e-2008 achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating, thanks to its sturdy construction and comprehensive safety technology. Adult occupant protection scored 93%, while child occupant protection was rated at 84%. The e-2008 also scored 73% for vulnerable road user (pedestrian) safety and another 73% for safety-assist features.

Standard safety equipment includes multiple airbags, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and traffic sign recognition.

Peugeot’s reliability record continues to improve, and the e-2008 benefits from strong owner reviews and low running costs.

MPG, emissions and tax

As a fully electric vehicle, the e-2008 produces zero tailpipe emissions. Road tax is £10 for the first year and £195 a year thereafter.

Insurance groups are moderate at 23-28, which is more or less on a par with the e-2008’s main rivals.

Service intervals are every 12 months or 16,000 miles, and Peugeot offers an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty, with a standard three-year/60,000-mile vehicle warranty.
