Toyota has taken its 2007 Frankfurt concept car into production with a prototype on display in Geneva this week.
The IQ, which is about the same size as a Smart car, is eco-friendly and Toyota hope that, by the end of the year when it will be fully launched, it will soon be as desirable as its bigger Prius stablemate.
Toyota Motor Europe senior vice-president, Andrea Formica, explains that it is: “the world’s smallest four-seater passenger car. Its clever seating configuration takes three adults plus a child, in less than three metres.”
Toyota expect the IQ to achieve a Euro NCAP five star rating, and has found that CO2 emissions from its 500cc plug-in hybrid powerplant are very low – just 99g per km.
