Euro NCAP test awards Nissan X-Trail four stars

The X-Trail sports utility vehicle (SUV) from Nissan has been given a four-star safety rating by the European New Car Assessment Programme.

Maximum points were gained by the model in pole crash and side impact tests – which assess adult protection – while the car also became one of two ever to score a maximum in child safety experiments.

European motorists have been able to get their hands on the second generation version of the model since June in a variety of engine options.

The company commented that the vehicle is among the most capable SUVs of its kind on the market, features greater space than the previous version and has a new four-wheel drive system.

Meanwhile, Subaru Japan has released the first teaser imagine of its new Forester vehicle.

The model will be launched in the spring, with a 2.0-litre variant arriving in September 2008, according to What Car?.
