Citroen ‘greenest car manufacturer’ second year running

Citroen has been rewarded for its efforts concerning the environment at the GreenFleet awards.

The car maker picked up the Car Manufacturer of the Year title ahead of Honda and Toyota, while finishing second in the Green Marketing Campaign and LCV Manufacturer of the Year categories.

In the UK, three of the top ten lowest-emitting vehicles are from the French company, with the C-Cactus set to further the firm’s green credentials when it is unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Citroen commented that there are a number of reasons why it has picked up the accolade.

"Today the company offers one of the most fuel-efficient and lowest CO2-emitting product ranges around – over 40 per cent of the company’s sales are diesel, with ultra-clean Diesel Particulate Filter Systems widely available," remarked the body.

The Frankfurt International Motor Show begins on September 11th 2007
