The Race For The Premiership! Cars for Stars

The English Premier League is the richest, and most watched, football league on the planet bringing with it the type of wealth of which most of us can only dream.

Living in life’s fast lane, Premiership players are delighted to display their deep pockets using iconic haircuts, tons of bling and the latest plasma TVs. But the biggest boys toy of all can often be found in the remote controlled-garages of footballer’s mansions.

In the race to be top dog, football stars buy cars with real pedigree, chum. Here are VCARS’ pick of the top Premiership stars and just some of their cars…

Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney

England’s Wayne Rooney recently had his silver £150,000 Range Rover Sport turned white. Rooney indulged in a spot of ‘vinyl wrapping’ – the latest car craze sweeping Premiership dressing rooms. Rather than having his favourite ride permanently re-sprayed, Rooney went for a vinyl wrap – a technique which can be reversed relatively quickly. Must be counting the pennies, eh?

Los Angeles Galaxy’s David Beckham

Okay, he’s no longer in the Prem, but he’s one of us, isn’t he? The collection of former England captain David Beckham is little short of staggering and includes the stunning Bentley Arnage. Beckham has also owned a Lamborghini Gallardo, a BMW 645i, Range Rover Sport and a pair of BMW M3s.

Chelsea’s John Terry

Terry loves his £140,000 Bentley Continental GT. Complete with a top speed of 198mph, the GT can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.8 seconds and, like Terry, boasts a 6.0 litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine!

Everton’s Steven Pienaar and Arsenal’s Theo Walcott

The fleet-footed duo are fans of their Aston Martin DB9s, the first model to be built at Aston Martin’s Gaydon facility in Warwickshire. (DB stems from the initials of David Brown, long-time owner of Aston Martin). A new DB9 will cost around £115,000 and it rockets along: 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 186 mph.

Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard and Chelsea’s Didier Drogba

They might have gone head to head in Saturday’s FA Cup Final but they’re united in their love for the Ferrari F40. The F40 was produced by 1987-92 and, at the time, was most expensive car that Ferrari sold to the public – around $400,000. Both Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson refer to the F40 as the ‘greatest supercar the world had ever seen’.  It’s easy to see why: 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 201mph!

Manchester City’s Mario Balotelli

Mario’s white Maserati MC Sport is a customization of the Maserati GranTurismo MC Concept. The changes include front and rear carbon-fibre spoilers, mirror housings and door handles. 20-inch wheel rims, carbon fibre steering wheel rim, paddle shifters, instrument panel, dashboard and door panels. 0-60 in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 183 mph.

Some other rides that Premiership players are seen out and about in: BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7, Ferrari F430, Mercedes SL65 AMG, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, and Cadillac Escalade.
