Fuel protest could cause capital chaos

The latest protests against the rises in costs of fuel, and the request to the government to reduce the duty payable may well mean that central London will be congested on Wednesday July 2nd.

From the M40 and A40 meeting points, police motorcyclists will escort convoys to Westminster and around the Vistoria Embankment.

There will also be a large demonstration outside the Houses of Parliament.

National chairman of the Road Hauliers Association, Andy Boyle, says: "The harsh reality is that the price of fuel is now forcing many hauliers out of business.

"For many, Wednesday will represent a last ditch attempt at making their voice heard. It is therefore absolutely vital that government not only listens to us but takes urgent action."

Many hauliers have requested a meeting with their local MP during the afternoon to put their point of view across face-to-face.
