Fifth Gear website reaches three million hits per month

The official internet home of the Channel 5 motor programme Fifth Gear now receives three million hits per month.

Figures from Google Analytics show that the domain had 3.168 million page impressions over the last 30 days from 286,000 unique visitors.

According to publisher Jay Nagley, the portal has achieved its goal of getting to the milestone within two years.

He said: "To be honest, we are slightly shocked to be bang on target – normally websites come in at any number other than the one you predict."

Mr Nagley added that the rapidly evolving nature of the internet means that the site will continue to change, with "plenty of scope for further development".

The Fifth Gear website features car reviews, road tests and news from around the motor industry.

The programme is hosted by Tiff Needell, along with Vicki Butler-Henderson, Tom Ford and Jason Plato
