Young drivers might have reputations about as sullied as the average Premier League footballer, but Mercedes-Benz are set to recognise and celebrate the skills of our juvenile roadsters.
The Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy will offer young drivers half an hour to prove their road-handling capabilities in exchange for the chance to win a slew of prizes include driving lessons, new car test drives and tickets to the British Grand Prix.
Applicants don’t even need to be qualified drivers – they simple need to be over 16, have £45 spare and taller than 1.5 metres.
At Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey and Mercedes-Benz Driving Experience Centre at Silverstone, youngsters can participate in five driving challenges designed to measure accuracy, precision, judgement, concentration and steering.
The academy is Mercedes-Benz reaction to a Swedish initiative based on research which revealed drivers who learn before 16 years old are 40% less likely to have an accident. Mercedes-Benz confessed they hope their programme, which runs until November 4th, will:
revolutionise the way young people learn to drive in the UK and create a new generation of safe and responsible drivers.
The Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy records scores of all entrants and offers the opportunity of becoming a Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy VIP for one year.
