Can a dealer change the tyres after I’ve paid a deposit and test driven a car?

I pu a deposit on a used Honda which had perfect handling and ride and what looked like newish Michelin tyres. when I returned to pick it up and pay for it, I test drove it again and it had 3 different tyres, pulled to the left and a twitchier ride. They said the old tyres were worn so replaced them with other tyres, all different makes. I'm not happy. What should I do?

If the dealer had concerns about the condition of the vehicle these should have been addressed before offering the vehicle for sale.

There could be an offence here under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations – I’d have a word with your local authority Trading Standards department or CAB in the first instance.
