I own a Citroen C4 Picasso 1.6 diesel, could a sump overfill lead to injector malfunction.

I own a Citroen C4 Picasso 1.6 diesel at service 8 months ago sump plug was not tightened and after 12 miles warning light came on,mechanic came out and overfilled sump resulting in oil pouring out the exhaust, now i require an injector, could the fact sump was overfilled lead to injector malfunction.Car 61 reg with 12500 miles. Wrote to Citroen regarding poor service and no reply dissapointing.

I think you need to get a Citroen dealer involved. We can’t see how too much oil would cause an injector fault but if one does need replacing at such a young age it would be worth asking Citroen to consider a goodwill contribution towards the repair costs.

Excess oil can result in the engine running on oil blown out of the engine breather and drawn into the air intake. In extreme cases this can cause an engine to ‘runaway’ and self destruct.
