Can you please tell me the difference between a VW Passat S TDI DPF and a VW Passat S TDI CR DPF as I am currently looking at buying a passat as a work car given that they are economical to run however I have 2 cars that are within my budget but cannot find the detail difference between these 2 models. Your advice would be much appreciated. Regards Tony

Can you please tell me what the ‘CR’ stands for in a cars description?
The ‘CR’ stands for common rail – a direct injection fuel system where fuel at very high pressure is delivered via a common pipe (rail) to electronically controlled solenoid valves that meter the fuel into the cylinder.
In the case of the Passat S, this appears to give a small improvement in the official combined fuel consumption figure, and a reduction in official CO2 emissions moving the CR spec into band F rather than G for car tax.
