Im a bit confused. If a cars CO2 emissions is greater than what one expects, can one add a catalytic converter on the vehicle in order to reduce tax band. eg for a car band F - band D. thank you

Can I fit a catalytic converter to reduce my car’s tax band?
Unfortunately not. CO2 emissions are associated with climate change and directly related to how much fuel you use, while catalytic converters (fitted in the exhaust of petrol cars since the early 1990s) cut down on carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen and other pollutants harmful to health.
You can reduce your fuel consumption, and hence your CO2 emissions, only by driving more economically or using the car less but there’s no way of changing the official CO2 figure on the registration document or the VED band that applies to your car.
