Women the target for new Agila

The new Vauxhall Agila, launched this week, is aimed primarily at females wishing to purchase a car that is ‘pleasing on the eye’ rather than being too “boxy”.

Going on sale next March, the Vauxhall Agila has been designed to be a runaround car to be used in the city as it is relatively compact but very practical.

Pleasing for green enthusiasts will be the news that the car’s carbon emissions will be less than 130grams per kilometre and the Vauxhall Agila is expected to hit the showrooms with a pricetag in the region of £7,500.

Cesare Prati, Vauxhall’s european marketing director, commented: “The last car was not very chic – it was quite boxy and we wanted to design the sort of car that women would not be ashamed to drive.”

Although longer and wider than the present Agila model, it will have decreased headroom and as a five-door car, many similarities have been noted between Vauxhall’s offering and the Suzuki Splash.
