Expert Opinion

Like the Premacy, the Mazda Tribute is a surprisingly excellent car which has often found itself being overshadowed by its contemporaries. As a result it can be found on the used market offered at excellent prices. Like many of today's SUVs the Tribute is at its best on tarmac - despite its rugged look - where it is calm and composed, offering a smooth ride and relaxed handling. With this in mind it is actually the 2WD models that stand out, which with the 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine (there are only petrol options available), is both powerfully punchy and relatively economic. Having since been replaced by the even more urban CX-5, the Tribute is now a quality, if somewhat rare, used softroader choice.
