New mechanics guide for the Fiat Punto

A new guide advising DIY mechanics on how to maintain the Fiat Punto is to be published by Haynes.

The Haynes Manual, which will retail at £19.99, will help Punto drivers decide what work must be done, provide information on routine maintenance and give a logical course of action and diagnosis when random faults occur.

It will be invaluable in helping owners know whether the garage is carrying out repairs in the correct manner and will teach you how to do-it-yourself if you fancy saving money.

Doing this could help avoid the costs that garages must charge to cover labour and overheads.

The Punto is descended (via another close relative, the Uno) from the Fiat 127, which was often considered to be the first of the superminis.

The heavily revamped Punto Mk II range was introduced to UK shores in October 1999.

The face-lifted version of the Mk II was unveiled in August 2003 and enjoyed brisk UK sales of over 100,000 vehicles.
