BMW 3 Series notches up fourth consecutive Best Compact Executive title

The BMW 3 Series has notched up its fourth consecutive Best Compact Executive title at the What Car? awards.

Perhaps the result was not so surprising considering that all three cars which were up for the award were models from the BMW 3 Series family.

The BMW 320d ES was the model which triumphed over its family rivals, meaning that its popularity among used BMW buyers could well be boosted further.

Klaus Kibsgaard, managing director of BMW UK, said: “It’s always a pleasure to be recognised for your endeavours.

"The BMW 3 Series is the lifeblood of our model portfolio and this prestigious award adds further weight to its class-leading position in the eyes of buyers."

BMW prides itself on its green credentials, having first offered EfficientDynamics as a standard feature two years ago.

The BMW 3 series was launched in 1975, having been conceived as an entry-level luxury executive car.

The range is still going strong five generations on.
