Saab sharpens up

Saab has given car buyers a sneak preview of its new-look 9-3 range which is due to go on sale in the UK this autumn.

The 9-3 line boasts considerable variety, including availability in Sport Saloon, SportWagon and Convertible models, with engine choices covering petrol, diesel and bioethanol E85.

Changes have been made to the design, performance and handling, all of which give the new model a sharp image.

The most prominent addition to the car is the grill, which stems from the Aero X concept, as does the ‘clamshell’ bonnet.

In addition to this, the door panels and rear have also been re-designed, giving the car an altogether more robust look.

Jan Ake Jonsson, managing director of Saab Automobile, commented: "The result is a major step forward in strengthening the visual and driving appeal of our core product line-up, which accounts for about two thirds of global sales."

Saab, with its Scandinavian engineering and design background, is widely regarded as producing some of the most visually unique cars available.
