Mac 4×4 rally hopes to raise record cash

The MacMillan Cancer charity fund-raising rally – known as the Mac 4×4 – is hoping to top the £108,000 raised in 2007.

The event is an off-road weekend treasure hunt with clues leading to destinations all over the British mainland.

All 60 vehicle places were filled in just ten days last April, and in the run up to the rally, one team, Carl Liversage, from Hampshire, and Nick Gage, from Surrey, have been lucky enough to get sponsorship from Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe.

"This event means a lot to people who take part, as they or someone they know has been affected by cancer," said Liversage, who names his 4 x 4 ‘LePaj’ and uses it as a family vehicle when not off-roading.

"I have been very pleased with my current set of Discoverer STT tyres. Off-road, they have helped me out of situations in which other tyres would have let me down, and I haven’t had any punctures at all, again, where others have."

The Mac 4×4 takes place from Friday March 7th at the Britpart gates, Craven Arms, to Sunday March 9th finishing at Daresbury Park, Warrington.
