2015 looks set to be a big year for supercars, with manufacturers from Aston Martin to Ferrari promising us new models. As ever, many of these new designs remain shrouded in secrecy, but we do have some detail about a couple of the big releases. Here, we look at some of the best cars to look forward to in 2015. Of course, there are many other options available, but these are a few of our favourites.
Revealed at the start of 2014, the second generation Chrysler 200 is one of the most anticipated cars of 2015. Available in four different trim levels (LX, Limited, S and C), it is primarily designed to compete in the market with the Ford Fusion or the Honda Accord.
During 2014, Chrysler did everything possible to ramp up promotion of the 200, including buying two minutes of Super Bowl ad time. The lengthy advert (above), which featured Eminem, was hugely successful in capturing the imagination of the American public. In fact, the day after the Super Bowl, the phrase ‘Chrysler 200’ was the second most searched term of the day.
Fitted with a 2.4L TigerShark or 3.6L Pentastar engine and a nine speed automatic gearbox, the Chrysler 200 looks set to dominate the American market in 2015. But will it make its way over here? We can’t wait to find out.
Aston Martin Lagonda
Sadly, it looks like the Aston Martin Lagonda is one car that won’t be making its way over to our shores. Only 100 of these stunningly beautiful luxury saloons will be made, and they will all be located in the Middle East.
The 2015 Lagonda is inspired by the original 1976 car with a 21st century upgrade. It comes complete with LED lights, carbon-fibre bodywork and a 565bhp 5.9L V12 engine. There are rumours that the Lagonda may be sold globally, with Aston CEO Dr Andy Palmer confirming that they are considering the move, but for now we will just have to wait and see.
Ferrari recently promised us a new car every year, and a new Ferrari 458 badged as the 458M appears to be on the cards for 2015.
The biggest news, however, isn’t the new version itself, but the engine within it. It appears as though Ferrari will be downsizing the engine in the 458 to an aspirated V8 which could offer upwards of 650bhp and a 0-60 time of three seconds flat.
The car is set to be formally unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in spring 2015. We can’t wait to see it; especially if it is going to be even quicker than the 458 Speciale in the video above.
Throughout 2014, the 2015 edition of the Jaguar XE has dominated motoring headlines across Britain. From celebrity launches to excessive Nürburgring testing, the XE is dominating, and rightly so.
The XE is central to the Jaguar brand and, if they get it right, it is forecasted that the 2015 edition will outsell all Jaguar’s other models combined next year.
Over here of course, we love the Jaguar as it represents the ‘best of British’, but there are other reasons to celebrate, too. The Jaguar XE, according to Jaguar anyway, will be cleaner than the Audi A4, the BMW 3-Series and the Mercedes C-Class. We can’t wait to see the final version.
There we have it, five of the cars that we are looking forward to most in the coming twelve months. Have we missed off one of your favourites? Let us know in the comments below.
