Everything London firm Alchemist touches turns to gold – especially the luxury cars it customises with a golden lick of paint.
Now motor fans can get the chance to see some of its workers give a car a golden makeover at this year’s MPH show featuring Top Gear Live.
An innovative new patented process has been developed by the Alchemist artisans which covers a car’s roof with the purest gold leaf.
Of course gold doesn’t come cheaply, prices start at £12,500, but if you’ve got money to burn you can always pay extra to have precious gemstones embedded into the sparkling paintwork.
The company’s French art director Jacques Blanc said: "The Egyptians mastered the technique more than 3,000 years ago and Tutankhamen’s chariot was decorated with gold leaves.
"We are simply continuing this ancient and opulent tradition."
Mr Blanc has recently completed custom gold-top finishes on Bentleys, Porsches and Mercedes cars.
At the MPH October show Mr Blanc will apply his gold-fingered touch to the Aston Martin DBS car, which has a starring role in the forthcoming James Bond flick Quantum of Solace.
