Chrysler announces partnership with Live Earth

DaimlerChrysler has announced an official partnership with Save Our Selves (SOS), the organiser behind the upcoming Live Earth concert.

SOS is dedicated to a campaign against global warming and was co-founded by former US vice-president Al Gore.

With its smart cars, Chrysler will provide the official shuttle service for artists and celebrities participating in the Live Earth concert, which takes place on July 7th and is being touted as the largest global music event of all time.

Dieter Zetsche, chairman of the DaimlerChrysler board of management, said: "With the smart fortwo, DaimlerChrysler has set new standards in urban mobility and low CO2 emissions in inner cities without making any sacrifices in terms of functionality, comfort or driving pleasure.

"This vehicle combines like no other a modern lifestyle and individual mobility with environmental protection. We are therefore happy that the smart…will support the Live Earth concerts and the SOS campaign."

Chrysler claims that the smart fortwo diesel releases only 88 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometre driven, making it an emissions "world champion".

It is also the world’s only mass production vehicle to consume only three litres of fuel per 100km, according to its manufacturer.
