Expert Opinion

Proton doesn't have a sterling reputation among the growing wealth of car manufacturers, and while the Gen-2 does little to alter most driver's assumptions, there are some positives worth picking out. Style is certainly one, and while it is far from giving an Aston Martin a run for its money in terms of looks, there is plenty to be drawn in by. Handling too is adequate, while its grip is equally good. The 1.6 litre petrol engine provides decent power to match, but refinement and cabin noise is an issue. Reliability is reported to be good, and coming with a low cost and being an increasingly rare sight, the Gen-2 is an affordable and unique choice.
