Should I buy an ex-police car?

I am looking at buying a large Diesel engine car for motorway driving. There are some good priced ex police cars available but I am unsure about how reliable they will be. Do you have any advice?

Buying ex-police cars is not something I have first hand experience of. On the plus side, cars are likely to have been serviced frequently but shift work, multiple drivers, and the general nature of police work surely mean that cars are likely to have had a hard, if short life.

As with any car, check any prospective purchase over thoroughly and preferably arrange an independent inspection before buying.
