MOT test

The first MOT for a personal vehicle is due 3 years from the date of registration.

The expiry time is midnight on the expiry date.

The existing MOT is valid until midnight on the expiry date.

Yes, you must have a valid MOT in order to pay the vehicle tax.

You can visit the DVLA vehicle enquiry page and enter the registration number. This will then show the expiry date for the vehicle tax and the MOT.

You can get an MOT up to a month (minus a day) before the current MOT expires and keep the same renewal date.

If you get the MOT earlier, the renewal date will change to a year (minus a day) from the test day.

Remember, you need a valid MOT in order to apply for vehicle tax.

And without a valid MOT it's illegal to drive your vehicle, and you'll be in breach of your contract with LeasePlan UK.

We send an MOT reminder in advance so you can get the MOT test done in the month before the current one expires. This will enable us to get your vehicle tax renewed.
