Readership of the Car Design News magazine, and online, have voted to award the BMW Concept CS and the Fiat 500 top spots in the 2007 Car Design of the Year poll.
The BMW Concept CS was first seen at the Shanghai motor show last year, and Adrian van Hooydonk, director of design at BMW Cars accepted the award, saying: "There was a lot of sweat that went into this design so we were pleased with the very positive reaction to the car."
In the production car category, the Fiat 500 scooped first place, with the Maserati Gran Turismo coming in second. The Audi A5 came third.
Roberto Giolito, head of Fiat Design, together with Lorenzo Ramaciotti, design director of Fiat Group Automobiles received the award and said: "We are really pleased to receive this award."
Ramaciotti continued: "It’s the second year in a row that Fiat Group have won, last year with the Alfa 8C at the top end and now the Fiat 500 at the lower end of our range and the Maserati in second place this year."
