Citroen has announced that its Xsara Picasso MPV range, which it describes as "evergreen", is to be streamlined and built around the Desire and VTX models.
Vehicles under the Desire badge feature air conditioning, four airbags, central locking, a CD player and electric mirrors as standard, as well as two additional option packs.
A £400 electric kit incorporates rear parking sensors, folding door mirrors and electric rear windows, while a £350 automatic pack offers digital air conditioning as well as automated wipers and headlamps.
VTX versions of the Xsara Picasso feature the same standard features as the Desire, with the additions of 15-inch alloy wheels, cruise control and rear parking sensors. The automatic option pack is also available for this model.
Both versions are available with either a 1.6-litre, 92hp diesel engine or a 1.6i petrol unit, with the added option of a 1.6HDi, 110hp diesel powerplant in the Desire. These engines are capable of emission rates as low as 135g/km as well as fuel economy of 55mpg.
Since its launch, the Xsara Picasso has reportedly become the UK’s top MPV, with almost 250,000 models already sold. The model is available alongside its seven-seat Grand C4 and five-seat C4 Picasso siblings.
