Toyota has announced details and prices of its new iQ car.
Order books are already open for the car, with the first deliveries due to be made to UK doorsteps in January.
The manufacturer is confident that the iQ is "proof that thinking small no longer means thinking modest".
But the prices are surprisingly modest – starting at just £9,495 on-the-road for the 1.0 WT-I manual.
With carbon dioxide emissions starting at a road tax-free 99g/km and combined cycle fuel economy of 65.7mpg for the 1.0-litre VVT-i with manual transmission, the iQ is expected to provide stiff competition for its eco-themed rivals.
Toyota’s designers are clearly proud that the car "can turn on a sixpence and slot easily into parking spaces that are forbidden territory to its rivals".
Lovers of style and comfort will be heartened that the iQ has a contemporary appearance with colour-keyed door mirrors and bumpers and heated electrically-adjustable door mirrors with integrated indicator lamps.
