New Fiesta could spark interest in used Peugeots and Renaults

The popularity of the new Ford Fiesta could mean that there are more used Peugeots and Renaults appearing on dealers’ forecourts.

Mark Simpson, marketing director, Ford of Britain, said: "Dealers are telling us that people are coming out of their Peugeot 207s and Renault Clios to get into the new Fiesta."

Mr Simpson listed "fabulous style, high levels of equipment and a great price" as just some of the many reasons why consumers want to get behind the wheel of the brand new vehicle.

"We expect to attract even more sales from business and economy-minded drivers next year when our ECOnetic model goes on sale," he added.

The company has reported that nearly 11,500 new Ford Fiesta models have been driven away by happy customers since the car was launched at the start of October.

The Zetec model has accounted for 51 per cent of sales while the most popular colour chosen by drivers has been Panther Black with new Hot Magenta also proving popular.
