The AA is advising drivers of the upcoming closures of the M25 Wisley Interchange and Southwest Quadrant slip road closures.
This is the scheme’s final full weekend closure of the interchange and is necessary to carry out the final surfacing work on the gyratory. The gyratory is due for completion by the end of summer this year.
“Due to access and exiting restrictions on this stretch of the M25, we urge drivers to plan their journeys in advance by downloading the AA Route Planner and to allow plenty of extra time for their journeys.”
Planned works
Southwest Quadrant Slip Road Closures – 9-12 May 2025
The two slip lanes in the southwest quadrant of the gyratory will be closed for one weekend between 9pm on Friday 9 May to 6am Monday 12 May 2025.
These slip lanes join the clockwise (westbound) M25. During this closure, you will not be able to leave the northbound A3 to enter the gyratory or enter the clockwise (westbound) M25 from the Junction 10 gyratory.
Wisley Interchange Junction 10 Closure – 16-19 May 2025
The Wisley Interchange junction 10, including all entry and exit slip roads, will be closed in its entirety from 9pm on Friday 16 May to 6am Monday 19 May 2025.
Full details on diversion routes are available on the National Highways website.
This is one of the busiest stretches of the M25 and is used by many drivers to get to Gatwick and Heathrow airports.
Due to these works, local roads surrounding junction 10 and the Wisley stretch of the A3 are expected to see a major uplift in traffic.
Shaun Jones, AA Patrol of the Year, said: “Due to access and exiting restrictions on this stretch of the M25, we urge drivers to plan their journeys in advance by downloading the AA Route Planner and to allow plenty of extra time for their journeys.
“We advise drivers who need to use junction 10 to familiarise themselves with the planned diversion routes and to expect delays.
“Prepare your vehicle before setting off by checking oil and coolant levels, tyres and make sure you have enough fuel or electric charge to cover the planned diversions.”
The works to improve junction 10 by adding extra lanes has been in place since 2022 and had been scheduled to be completed by this summer, however, around nine months of “extreme” weather during the project has delayed completion until Spring 2026.
