Owners of older Saabs given inspection offer

A special offer of a comprehensive safety check on all mechanical and electrical functions and one year’s AA roadside assistance for £32 has been made available to owners of older Saab models.

Drivers who own a car that is three years old or more and no longer covered by its original warranty can take advantage of the promotion, which is open until the end of April 2007.

Saab dealer technicians will carry out a visual inspection of critical components such as brakes, hubs, steering and tyres as well as electrics, lights, clutch, transmission, suspension and exhaust before presenting the customer with a written report on their findings.

This no-obligation report will be accompanied by a fixed-price quote for any work that is found to be necessary.

Sarah Kenworthy, after-sales director of Saab GB, said: "Our British weather and road conditions at this time of year can be unforgiving, even on cars designed with safety and reliability in mind.

"In just ten days the AA attended over 180,000 breakdowns, but the vast majority were due to minor faults, most of which would have been avoidable with a basic inspection of the vehicle."

Ms Kenworthy added that Saab’s offer should help drivers keep their cars in a "safe and roadworthy" condition.
