Lexus has chosen Syndey’s Australian International Motor Show to show its new blue high performance sports coupe concept, the beautiful LF-LC Blue. The model, which wowed the Detroit motor show earlier in 2012, has swapped a burning red outer for a lustrous opal, inspired by the Australian gemstone.
The LF-LC takes Lexus’ advanced technologies and materials and combines them with an organic design. The LF-LC concept uses lightweight carbon fibre and Lexus’s full hybrid powertrain – the experience and in-house capabilities Lexus has gained in the development of the LFA supercar means the LF-LC has been able to marry that carbon fibre and aluminium alloy materials, to make it super light.
The LF-LC houses the company’s next generation hybrid drive system, the Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive, which features a new, high-energy battery pack designed to deliver greater power from a unit that is smaller than those used in Lexus’s current full hybrid range. The concept hints at what is to come from Lexus, and you’ve got to say the future looks pretty promising for Toyota’s luxury brand.
