Safety Cameras in AA Operational Vehicles

This privacy notice lets you know what happens to your personal data that we collect via the externally mounted safety monitoring cameras in the AA Operational Vehicles. The Vehicles equipped with these cameras will also have visible notices, i.e. stickers, informing you of the presence of the cameras.

This notice should be read in conjunction with the AA's Privacy Notice where you can find the full details of your rights and choice, and how to exercise them.

What kinds of personal information about you do we process?

Personal information that we’ll process as part of the safety camera monitoring includes:

  • Safety footage around the AA Operational Vehicles, such as breakdown scene monitoring

NB. Some of our AA Vehicles may be equipped with internally mounted facial monitoring cameras which only monitor AA driver safety.

What do we use your personal data for?

The purposes this information may be used for are:

  • To improve the safety of customers, the general public, and AA employees and workers at the roadside through competency and training assessment;
  • Complaint/Claim resolution; and
  • Accident investigation.

What are the legal grounds for our processing of your personal information (including when we share it with others)?

We rely on our health and safety obligations and legitimate interests for the processing of personal data as part of safety cameras monitoring to ensure your and the safety of our customers, the general public and AA workers, and to ensure compliance with our legal obligations under health and safety regulations.

When do we share your personal information with other organisations?

Data collected from the cameras will be stored in a secure third-party cloud solution with a short-term copy also held in an encrypted local hard drive securely installed in the AA vehicles. The AA will also have access to the data and may hold a copy of it as well where required for the above listed purposes.
