How do I know if my car needs a new battery?

If your car battery keeps going flat or can’t be jump started, it’s probably time to get a new one. A dead battery won’t hold its charge anymore, so it’ll need to be replaced.

Unlike many local garages, our mobile mechanics can test your battery’s health at home or by the roadside. We’ll check for any underlying faults that might drain your battery or stop it charging.

Do you fit batteries at my home?
Yes - our mobile mechanics will come to wherever you are, including if you’ve broken down at home. When you book, choose the time and the place that suits you.
What happens when I book Battery Assist?

When you book Battery Assist online, you can choose a date, time and place and we'll come to you. If you have a dead battery at home or by the side of the road, we’ll come to your rescue.

We'll check to see if your car battery needs replacing. If it does, we’ll supply and fit it for you. Our mechanics carry batteries in their vans, so we can find one that’s right for your vehicle.

Once the new battery's in, we’ll take away the old one and dispose of it in an environmentally-friendly way.

How long do car batteries last?

Car batteries usually last around 5 years, depending on how you use your car.

If you’re having trouble starting your car before the battery's 5 years old, it probably means one of these:

  • The car’s not being driven often enough to charge the battery.
  • The car's doing too many short journeys.
  • There's a vehicle fault draining the battery or affecting charging.

Battery problems after 5 years are more likely to mean:

  • The battery's getting tired and may need replacing.

Our mobile car battery fitting service will only fit new batteries that come with a 5 year warranty.
