Renew your car insurance
Renewing your policy
Receiving your renewal invite
We send your renewal invite around 28 days before your renewal date.
If you've opted to receive your renewal documents by email, they should arrive on the same day your invite is sent. Remember to check your junk folder too.
Documents sent by post can take 5 to 7 days to reach you.
Haven't received your invite?
Chat to us to make sure it's on its way.
Renewing online
Our online renewal service is available to some of our customers who pay annually by card. We're rolling it out to customers in stages, and your renewal invite will confirm if you can renew online.
To renew and pay online, log in to your account and have your policy documents to hand. Before you begin, check the cover still meets your needs and your personal details are correct.
You can renew online from the day you receive your renewal invite until your cover expires.
Trouble logging in?
Find solutions here or chat to us if you can't log in to your account.
Need to make a change?
You won't be able to renew online if you need to make a change to your policy or personal details. Call us and we'll be happy to help.
If you call to make a change to your policy but aren't ready to renew on the call, you can still renew online later – for the revised price confirmed on the phone. To see the new quote, you'll need to refresh the page or log in again.
Confirmation of your renewal
When you've renewed your policy, you'll receive email confirmation within 24 hours, or if you chose to have your documents sent by post, they should arrive within 5 to 7 days.
If you still haven't received an email or your documents in the post, contact us via chat or call us to check your policy is active and you're covered to drive.
Opt in to automatic renewal
Automatically renewing your policy gives you the reassurance of continuous cover. You can opt in to automatic renewal any time after purchasing your policy.
We'll send details of your renewal before your policy expires, and you'll have plenty of time to contact us if you want to make a change.
To choose automatic renewal, chat to us or call us.
Opt out of automatic renewal
You can also opt out of automatic renewal any time after purchase.
Either fill in our opt out of automatic renewal form, chat to us, or call us.
If you have a Silver, Gold or Platinum policy, log in to your account and follow the link to 'Manage, view and renew' to opt out.
We'll still send you a renewal invitation when your policy is due to expire, but it won't renew automatically. Don't forget – it's a legal requirement to have car insurance unless your car has been registered as off the road.
If you're thinking of ending your cover at renewal, then give us a call.
If you pay by monthly instalments, your final payment is normally due around the time of your renewal date. If you cancel your Direct Debit before your last payment has been collected, it may impact your cover. Call our instalments team directly on 0344 871 0096 and we'll be happy to help.
Car insurance and breakdown cover
If you bought your car insurance before 30 December 2021, with your breakdown cover as a separate policy, cancelling your insurance won't also cancel your breakdown cover.
If you bought your car insurance from 30 December 2021 onwards, with your breakdown cover as an add-on to your car insurance policy, cancelling your car insurance will also end your breakdown cover.
If you bought your breakdown cover separately to your car insurance, ending your policy won't cancel your breakdown cover.
If you want to discuss your breakdown renewal, call us.
No claims discount
Your no claims discount is shown on page 3 of your renewal invitation, or it's on your cancellation letter if you cancelled your policy before the renewal date.
Allow 5 to 7 days for your cancellation letter to arrive after you cancelled your policy. We can't issue an official letter as proof of your no claim discount until after your policy has ended.
The underwriter of your car insurance policy will be provided from our panel of insurers.
