Lee Morley, from Orpington, is celebrating after being crowned Patrol of the Year – the AA’s highest accolade for its roadside patrols across the UK – at the annual AA Awards. In his new role, 40-year-old Lee will spend the next 12 months as the public face of the company, representing the UK’s biggest motoring organisation within the motor industry and before the media.
The judging process began last September with nominations from across the UK, before five finalists were put through intensive technical and driving tests, panel interviews and mock radio interviews at The AA’s Oldbury Operations Centre in November.
Lee has been an AA Patrol for 15 years and is well known for his dedication and professionalism. His most memorable breakdown involved assisting a Manchester nurse who was volunteering in London. Her alternator failed just before she was due to return home to collect her family for a holiday in Cornwall – Lee sourced and replaced the alternator on the spot, saving the family holiday and avoiding a lengthy recovery back to Manchester.

“I’ve always taken pride in my job and love helping members when they need us most.”
Outside of work, Lee enjoys playing seven-a-side football and is a passionate Spurs fan. He lives in Orpington with his fiancée and young child. His dream car is a classic Mustang, and his dream holiday destination would be the Maldives.
Lee says: “Winning Patrol of the Year is an incredible honour. I’ve always taken pride in my job and love helping members when they need us most. To be recognised in this way means so much to me and my family. Being a patrol brings new challenges every day, and I love finding solutions that make a real difference. I’m excited for what the next year will bring.” Dean Keeling, Managing Director of Roadside Services at The AA, says: “The AA Awards ceremony gives us the opportunity to recognise the efforts of AA people who go above and beyond to help others, and the Patrol of the Year award is the epitome of this.
“With the skills to turn around a broken-down driver’s day and get them back on their way despite the challenges of working at the roadside in all weathers, Lee exemplifies the values which set AA patrols apart.
“His award is a true testament to his hard work, persistence, outstanding service and dedication and is a well-deserved accolade. Congratulations to Lee and all our finalists and award winners.”
The AA Awards 2025 were held on Thursday 11 December at Vox, Birmingham, with the Patrol of the Year taking the reins on 1st February 2026.
