Specialist help in an accident

If you're involved in an accident, you can get help from our Accident Assist team. Our helpline is available for Members 24/7 to give support with any potential claim.

We'll send a mechanic, who'll try to get you back on the road and, if your vehicle can't be repaired at the roadside, we'll arrange a recovery and get you a temporary replacement. 

If the accident wasn't your fault, our specialist staff can help organise repairs, vehicle hire or personal injury assistance, if necessary. If your driving confidence has been affected, we can arrange for a 2 hour lesson with an instructor to help get you back on the road.

Good to know
  • The benefit is only available to AA membership policyholders. We’ll ask for your membership number at the start of the call to confirm your membership status.
  • We’ll recover your car and can arrange repairs or a replacement hire vehicle, at our discretion, in an accident that wasn't your fault.
  • If you do have an accident, remember to write down as many details as possible, including the name and address of any people involved, details of the other vehicles and any anyone who may have seen it happen.
  • Accident Assist doesn’t replace your motor insurance policy, isn’t a substitute for your legal requirement for your vehicle to be insured and doesn’t cover your liabilities to others.
  • There aren’t any restrictions to the number of times you can call, but we reserve the right to withdraw the service if in our reasonable opinion we consider it is being misused and/or abused.
