This handsome old house in the heart of the Norfolk Broads is looking dapper with its contemporary, country-chic finish. The smart restaurant follows the theme, seamlessly blending period features with an uncluttered style – white walls, abstract artworks, and simple flower arrangements. Windows look out over pretty gardens. On the food front, the kitchen hauls in fine local ingredients and offers a vibrant modern British menu. Start with scallops fired up with Cajun spicing, and move on to a fillet of beef with crisp pommes Anna, onion puree, tomato jam, Shropshire blue fritter, savoy cabbage and peppercorn sauce. Finish with a chocolate fondant, milk chocolate ice cream and hazelnut lollipop.
