A fish and chip restaurant fit for Mayfair

AA Inspector

At a glance

All day dining
Private dining
Wines by the glass

As a pairing, Mayfair and Chippy breaks new ground, and so it should. This wealthy quarter of W1 has as much right to a quintessentially British fish and chip restaurant as anywhere else. It certainly looks the part - all black and white chequerboard tiled floors, marble-topped tables, mirrored walls and fish-themed prints. And it serves crispy Cornish squid, roast garlic and mayo; Devon cod loin with parsley crust, mussels and samphire; and other much-loved British fare like shepherd's pie, and warm chocolate pudding with salted caramel ice cream and cinder toffee. For Mayfair, the small wine selection is attractively priced.
