Regional British produce gets the Italian job

Another sizeable venue on the bustling entrepot of St John Street, Luca is that quintessentially millennial proposition, a restaurant using regional British produce in menus that look to Italy. Sharing plates for mixing and matching, and a boisterous, well-stocked bar are also in the now, and the food delivers. Spaghetti with Lancashire's finest Morecambe shrimps and mace butter inspires confidence from the off, and then comes a fillet of sea bass alla puttanesca, all olive and anchovy pungency, offset with wilted spinach, or Cornish lamb chops coated in rosemaried breadcrumbs with crushed veg. A filo pie of dried fruits and chocolate is not quite crostata, as advertised, but tasty enough.
