This very striking half-timbered inn has stood at a rural crossroads for upwards of 600 years. The name recalls Georgian times when stagecoach guards blew a horn to warn of their approach. A warm welcome remains at the heart of today's pub; whether it's the cheery open fires in the well-beamed and posted interior or a filling meal from the accomplished menu of both traditional and modern dishes. Perhaps a smoked salmon and chive pâté with beetroot and horseradish chutney starter followed by mains such as spaghetti and meatballs; local butcher, Mr Waller’s sausages and mash or a vegetarian choice from the specials board.
